Machine Readable Passport

Machine Readable Passport System is replacing the existing manual system. As per the current policy, every Citizen of Pakistan shall have Machine Readable Passport (MRP) for traveling abroad. The issuance of MRP passport is also complementing the government's efforts to increase the national database and thus improve overall governance of the country.

Machine Readable Passports (MRP) facility is now available in The High Commission of Pakistan, Malaysia. Accordingly the issuance of normal manual passports by the High Commission of Pakistan, Malaysia will cease w.e.f. 1st June 2013. However, for limited time, the High Commission will continue to issue urgent manual passports to applicants, in emergency cases only.

Requirements for Fresh/Renewal of Machine Readable Passport

For applicants (18 Years and above)

  • Personal appearance of the applicant(s).
  • Original Valid NICOP/CNIC alongwith a photocopy. Expire CNIC/NICOP is not acceptable in any case.
  • Original latest Pakistani passport alongwith a photocopy of first 2 pages and endorsement pages if any.
  • Original valid visa along with its photocopy.
  • No Objection Certificate, for Government servants only. (Two photocopies).
  • Original bank receipt. (Name and CNIN/NICOP No. shall be written manually on top of the bank receipt).

Note: Any amendment in the already existing data is subject to provision of revised CNIC/NICOP

For Children (below 18 Years)

  • Under 18 years of age applicants must be accompanied by either of the parents
  • Original NICOP or Child Registration Certificate (CRC) issued by NADRA. Expire NICOP/CRC is not acceptable in any case.
  • Original latest Pakistani passport (if any) along with a photocopy of first 2 pages and endorsement pages if any.
  • Original valid visa along with its photocopy.
  • Parent's CNIC/NICOP, Passports and valid visas with photocopies
  • Original bank receipt. (Name and CNIN/NICOP No. shall be written manually on top of the bank receipt).

Note:

  • Birth Certificate issued by hospital or Child Registration Certificate issued by Pakistan High Commission Malaysia or any mission abroad is not acceptable as only NADRA CRC/NICOP # is required for MRP application processing.
  • Machine Readable Passport (MRP) is issued in conformity with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards. According to the ICAO standards child endorsement is not allowed on parent's passport. Therefore, children will be issued a separate MRP

Requirements for Lost Passport

  • Prior approval of the High commissioner.
  • Personal appearance of the applicant(s).
  • Duly signed lost passport report.
  • Original police report having all the details particularly name of applicant, passport number, date and place of issue and visa ref. number.
  • Relevant prescribed Fee to be deposited in the designated Bank and Original bank receipt along with Photocopy shall be produced. (Name and CNIN/NICOP/CRC No. shall be written manually on top of the bank receipt).
  • Original valid CNIC/ NICOP/CRC along with a photocopy.
  • Photocopy of lost Pakistani Passport.
  • Copy of valid visa in form of Visa sticker or any evidence of valid visa.
  • No Objection Certificate, for Government servants only. (two photocopies)

Note: In case lost of Manual (hand written) Passport, verification letter shall be sent to relevant office from where passport was issued for particular verification. MRP passport shall not be processed / released till the reply of concerned office regarding particular verifications.

STAGES INVOLVE IN ISSUANCE OF MRP

For issuance of MRP the applicant will have to go through the following stages:

  • Arrival of Applicant at Consular Hall at the High Commission.
  • Queue token will be issued at Window of Consular Section after provision of all requisite documents and applicant will be referred on their turn to MRP Operation Room.
  • At MRP operation room another Token will be issued which shall be kept in safe custody as the same shall be required at the time of delivery of MRP.
  • Capturing of Biometric Data.
  • Photograph.
  • Data Entry.
  • Verification of data.
  • Decision by Officer Incharge.
  • Production and collection/delivery of Passport.

Note:

  • Applicant's data entry, photo, signature and thumb impression capturing are done by the trained MRP staff using latest technology
  • Applicants DO NOT need any application forms or photographs as it is done by MRP staff during processing of stage.
  • Applicants DO NOT require any prior appointment for MRP application. They will be entertained on first come first served basis during the designated office time.
